I opened Little Paws in November of 2002. It started as a small daycare in West Valley. Since then, it has grown into Yakima’s only full-service Pet Resort providing doggie daycare, dog boarding, cat boarding, dog grooming and now dog training! I am very proud of my business, and I work every day to keep the pets in my care happy.
I grew up in Yakima and was raised by parents who were very supportive of my passion for animals. We had everything from dogs and cats to lizards, fish and a ferret. My grandmother nurtured my true love of horses, and I spent a huge amount of time in her stable or on the back of a horse.
Before I started Little Paws, I was in middle management for a large manufacturing company. Although this was a very good job, it did not fulfill my need for personal growth within my career. I discovered the idea of doggie daycare, and after much thought, tons of research and a huge leap of faith, I quit my job and started my own business. Looking back, I’m not sure how I survived the early years, but I have no regrets and encourage everyone who has a passion to turn it into their career.
I have two grown children. Erica is my oldest and has given me the greatest gift of my first grandchild, Tenley. Tyler is my youngest and is a gifted musician and educator. I am so proud of my children and they are the light of my life!
I currently own two Boston Terriers Stewie and Boone. If I had my way I would many more! They really do bring so much happiness and entertainment to my life and they are my family too.
Julie loves that Little Paws gives her the opportunity to meet a lot of interesting people and learn about all kinds of dog breeds. Julie participated in 4-H in high school and worked part-time at a vet clinic. In October of 2013, she adopted a one year old Corgi/Chihuahua mix named Gizmo. After Julie lost her father, Gizmo's companionship helped heal her heart, and they have been glued together ever since.
Shar has a deep passion for animals and loves all of the dogs and cats at Little Paws like as if they are her own. She's also one of our experienced trainers! Shar studied at Catch Canine Trainers Academy where she loved the positive approach to training. Shar has a three-year-old Boxer names Blayz who she rescued when he was nine months old. She also has two cats.
Tiffany’s passion for animals runs deep. She was pursuing a degree in marine biology before she got the job at Little Paws. In fact, she loves marine life so much she refuses to eat seafood! Tiffany also completed her schooling for dog training at Catch Canine Academy. Optimus Prime is her Doberman/Boxer mix who she swears has four left paws and is a big lover.
Lacie is our groomer, and she has continued to develop her pet care skills. She’s been working at Little Paws since 2014. She chose to be a groomer because of her love for dogs! Lacie grew up around animals. She has three dogs, two horses and a cat that bring happiness to her life. Her future goal is to continue to build the grooming business within Little Paws Pet Resort.
Ria loves working at Little Paws because every day she gets to interact with some of the friendliest, happiest and most amazing dogs and puppies! She falls in love with a new face every day. Growing up, she was the kid who would feed and care for any strays she found.Ria is an artist and photographer and you will be seeing some of her artwork go up on the walls in our daycare! She has a 3 year old Siberian Husky named Inka Harvii, 2 bearded dragons and 3 cats. You can tell she has a huge passion for animals!
